Google’s Search profiles bring articles, videos and social posts into a shared identity. Here is what was announced and what to prepare without assuming access.

For a publisher who works across a website, a video channel and social platforms, a scattered identity can make it hard for readers to find the right source. Google’s Search profile announcement addresses that discovery problem, but it should not be treated as a shortcut to higher rankings.

What Google announced

On June 4, 2026, Google introduced Search profiles as shareable spaces for publishers and creators to display articles, videos and social posts. Readers can follow a source from its profile. Google said the profiles would initially launch in the US, with claiming initially available to publishers and creators with a sizable following on at least one major social or video platform.

Google described customization options including an avatar, biography, website and platform links. It said claiming can trigger a knowledge panel for eligible creators; that is not a promise that every applicant will get one. The launch announcement does not establish universal availability in India or other markets. Source: Google’s Search profiles announcement.

Prepare a small publisher identity kit

You can organize the information readers need without assuming your account is eligible. Our suggested kit is a single document that contains an approved display name, a short factual biography, the official website address, public account links and a current avatar you have permission to use.

For a small editorial website, decide whether a page represents the publication or a named individual. Do not mix a company’s description with an individual’s qualifications. Where several people contribute, keep their roles and profile details distinct.

A useful review for Anonzou-style publishing sites

  1. Check the destination: Open each public profile link and confirm that it reaches the intended account, not an old handle or a similarly named page.
  2. Remove unsupported claims: Replace vague authority claims with verifiable information. A new publication can explain its subject focus without calling itself an industry leader.
  3. Choose representative work: Select a few articles that demonstrate the topics you cover. Prefer work with clear sourcing and a useful answer over a list chosen only for broad keywords.
  4. Make corrections easy: Give readers a working contact route for reporting mistakes. Decide who will review those messages.
  5. Set a review date: Recheck the kit when your name, website, team or platform accounts change. A profile should describe the publication as it exists now.

Identity work and search performance are different tasks

Google’s guidance for AI features says ordinary SEO practices still apply and there is no additional technical requirement specifically for inclusion in AI Overviews or AI Mode. It also makes clear that inclusion is not guaranteed. Source: Google Search Central guidance on AI features.

For this site, the practical next step is to publish work worth associating with that identity: accurate explanations, clear dates, transparent authorship and useful examples. Treat profile completeness as a reader-service task. Measure actual search visibility separately rather than promising that a profile claim will produce traffic.
